Lada Niva Diff Swap

Post by tracer »

Just wondering how easy it is to swap over diff heads as a mate has blown his front diff and wants to swap the one from his parts car into it (Both Nivas)
Thanks

You swapping the entire front diff or just the internal's?? I've had my complete front diff out a couple of times, not to bad to do. should be able to do in an afternoon.
Be aware the 5speed and 4 speed run different ratio's, don't mix them together.

Pm me if you need info on how it's done...

Cheak the ratio's when you pull them out, if there diferent, then swap the rear diff head over to one the same ratio as your putting in the front too (Good news is it's easier to do than the front one!). You got a complete donner truck??
Need to keep the front and rear diff the same ratio, Doesn't matter if you use 4 speed or 5 speed box.

yeah what rotordogg is saying is correct, the best thing you can do is put both the 4 speed diffs in as they are 4.3 ratio and the 5 speed is 4.1 so will give you more torque and better crawl speed.
the 4 speed gearbox also has a lower first and is alot stronger box so hang onto it. or if you want to flick it give me a PM
