decided that THIS is the best place to annotate the small mods I am doing to the wee twuck.

Of the stuff I have done so far,

De-ranged did great job of the hooks..



The airbox has been documented elsewhere, so wont do it again.

latest project has been the design and manufacture of a replacement of THIS....

It IS rather obvious why. After every trip, I have had to take the factory skid plate off, and beat it back into some semblance fo its original shape.

above THIS is an oil cooler, and I realy dont want to smck a hole in THAT!!!


Ok, now I am off out to the shed to fit the new plate.

OHHH the TOP of the new plate is flat, designed so when it gets full of dirt cos I been following Wopass again, I can just stuff the end of the water blaster up there and blow all the shit out.

I may have to gascut drain holes in the bottom of the angles, will wait and see.

The engineering company (NOT the boss, he was out) made a slight fuckup, the closed ends wuz supposed to be at the top, but no!! However, I am gonna run it and see.
Should be ok, to hit THEM open ends, end on, I am gonna do a power of hurt to the twuck first. If I do have to modify it, I will then close the tops with a slight rake to them.

Yup, she is a bog standard toy, dunno about the LSD up front tho, but you DO raise an innneresting point. That COULD explain the weird happenings when turning on hard ground and why it did the 42 Traverse on road tyres as soon as it was "run in" (Nearly)

The guy you know with one is wasting it!! they as cheap as shit to buy considering its NEW and, though I shouldnt say this, can do 170 KPH and for all running returns me some 30 MPG or a tad over 10 l per Litre.

Over the weekend, Richie and I put into practice a slight adjustment I had found on an Aussie site.

It is the Ssangyong club in Aussie and they mostly run Mussos, but hell, its the same engine and runnning gear.

The upshot was, they has found out how to increase fuel fflow in the Merc Engines. The Injector p/p is a strangely made german designed unit, and the adjustments are cunningly hidden with true Tuetonic efficiency.

Not to worry, the criminally brained Aussie have that sussed and published the why's and wherefore's on their site.

Sooooo..... we did what they suggested and bloody hell!! a real "seat-of-the-pants" increase in power.

next thing to do is to take off all the stupid save-the-planet emission control gear and do a large bigbore divorce pipe.

Now I need to find a dyno that is not gonna rape my bank accout, so i can track improvements if any...

Only tyres, thanks to Rob at Naenae Tyre Court, with an honourable mention to Kiwibank who are guarding the vastly diminished bank amount... Pity about the STINKY graphic, but you gotta do these things for mates, yes?

Damn but Twuck looks a whole lot betterer with bigger feet.





Made a further mod too. in preperation for a decent Rear bumper with built in towbar and recovery hooks





then, after lunch a couple of weeks ago, went back to where I had parked and found that some ratbag (probably a sparky or plumber) had found my truck, the bastard!!!!! No note, no offending vehicle parked close by, man, am I PISSED OFF!!!

As you will see from the previous post, the dumb-ass plastic bumper at the rear sort of "fell off" and needed to replace it.

Me and Taz, actually TAZ, with me making cuppy teas and fetching and carrying etc, did THIS!!! photos taken at night.

The spare has been lowered and moved left a lot. I can see over it properly now, cant even see the tyre in the rear view mirror.

Everything was going smoothly until....




Newly positioned tow hitch.
Its actually 15MM LOWER than Marty's, but he has falcon springs and bigger tyres. My exit angle is vastly improved, the dumb-arse rear top loop is no more, it also ruined dropping off abrupt descents.

Oddly enough, the finished job has only a passing resemblance to what was in my mind when I went in the door.

Wonder how THAT happens? The only thing of my original idea is the fact that the damned thing SWINGS!!!!

Are you saying that there are NO spider gears at all? How then does it allow for one wheel turning faster then the other when cornering?. Jack the back up, and turn one wheel and the other turns in the opposite direction. All this with clutches and springs? I have just GOTTA yank this thing apart as soon as I find a replacement now. I have to see this for mine own eyes.

At LAST!!! The Good Ole Boys from Palmy came thru...

First bit was to make the new and beautiful chunk of machined-steel-in-a-box now looks like THIS!!!



THAT was the easy bit, lots of help from more good ole boys and a young feller... Wazzis name, Taz? and with a little encouragement from Stinko.... a vacant space appeared under the Samsung.... What to do with THAT????



Test drove at around 5PM. A fun job, thanks guys for letting me do the tricky bits myself.

Post script.
Started off with 0.007" backlash measured at the tip of the tooth. I should expect it will settle down during running, and I will check after a few 1000K and re-measure, Expect it to open out to around 0.012". Do I re-shim?

Yup, Badnuz, seems to. Didnt make any funny noises. yet.. A doddle to fit in my application. Be even easier if we had taken the rr axle right out!!! I will start shopping around for a compressor soon. But right now, I am mobile again. Thanks for your help.

ARB compressor
Right side front of engine bay The coolest place under the bonnet
Airline is tucked up on top of the chassis rails and cabletied every 150mm to the brake lines, also, comes out of the diff housing top and is cable tied to the flexi line across to the chassis.



Location of switches, The wires are cable-tied to the side of the footwell, to keep em out of the way of my great clumsy feet.
