im a little bit strapped for cash at the moment, and it turns out that my injector pump is leaking quite bad, ive been quoted from three different places between 1200-1600.
is this a relatively normal price?
does anyone know where i may find somewhere a bit cheaper to help me solve the problem?
cheers

Re: good priced diesel mechanics
I just had mine done plus new injectors, didn't get much change out of $2000, but my truck is running mint now. I shopped around and pretty much everywhere I went the price started at $1000!

I paid $700 at a place here in Hamilton for rebuilding/recon my patrol injector pump. Was early last year so unsure if that has changed

And what sort of truck you have, prices will vary on different vehicles. Just to give you a ball park figure, recently had a quote of getting a nissan td42 pump done for $600

Re: good priced diesel mechanics
where is it leaking?
my pajero was peeing diesel from the top hat seal, bought the seal set for 30 bucks and did it in situe. its just time consuming and sometimes fiddly.
if the shaft seals a dead, i dont know what special tools youll need but im sure it wont be a rocket science job.

Diesel pump do get quite a bit more complicated the deeper you go.
But most cover/plate seals are o rings, and a piece of piss to do
