Been busy workin my way through all the boogy shit that was busting for attention courtesy of a couple of years away from home

Wipped up some new inner gaurd rubbers, they are important as they help keep crap out of the alternator etc. Buggered if I know why they got pulled off, but these sure as hell ain't going anywhere!!!

I borrowed one to use as a template and extended it by 40mm to allow for the B/L:

Bunged some other seats in too.

The grey with the brown wasn't doing it for me

Image
Image

Nabbed a couple of these before they got snapped up off Tardme, couldn't buy a decent set of second hand seats for the price!!!
Image

Should be heaps of room:
Image

Did some rough measurements, and drilled a few holes in some 25 X 3mm flat bar I had kicking around:
Image

Jammed them onto the rails:
Image

Stuck them onto the seats:
Image

Slapped the seats in:
Image

Simple as, apart from the fact that cab is actually quite narrow for a big truck, and I moved the seats on the rails 3 times before I was happy with the position.

I also ment I could get an extra 80mm length out of the bed!!!!!

did you just punch holes/drill in the cleaer tube on washer arms?I'v been thinking about doing that.does it work better than washer jets?
I was going to wire both pump motors togeather and use one per wiper arm(high flow like).I dont use the back one

Cheers

Yeah, drilled holes in the tube, about 5 holes per wiper, think they were 1.5 or 2mm holes, tiny anyway. Just the 1 pump moves HEAPS of water when set up like that, doesn't take long to drain the bottle, especially when its leaking at the same time

Yep, I have been busy, its been gutted inside, completely stripped outside, steam cleaned inside, underneath and outside then re-sprayed.

It was well protected against rust and salt water damage when I sold it as I used to live on the West Coast and it has worked luckily!!!

Just some useless excuse for a panel beaters ass has butchered the guards in an attempt to clear 35" Simex's. Thats taken a bit to tidy up

The best part is, not many people would recognise it if they saw it now. Looks a fair bit different to a few months ago, so hopefully that might reduce the chance of being un-expectedly Jaffa'd

Hey

Nice job. Has given me a few good ideas.

If you still have the grey seats, I would be happy to take them of your hands, as mine are shagged.

Cheers

I've tried fixing mine lots of times, got another bottle & pumps, still leaks. Looks like leaks come from the pumps, not where they go into the bottle. Given up & live with it now

Been tracking down some forced induction ideas and prices for the weesy old N/A TD42.

Its not a comp truck, I don't want 500hp, I don't want to spend $2500 on an injector pump, or a water to air intercooler........

I just want a little help to turn the 36" Centipedes both off and on road. I need to retain the legendary Patrol reliability for the random middle of no where places I like to end up.

There's some horrible shit out there when you start looking!!!!

Some interesting ideas too :D

This has caught my attention recently and I keep coming back to it:

http://dsrturbo.com/product_info.php?pr ... 05da8b158b

Sounds like they have put a little bit of R&D into the turbo performance spec's, it puts full boost right in the middle of where the engine is making its best power in standard trim.

The manifold looks nice in the photo, should keep the turbo tight to the block and away from the battery.

I'm keen to hear opinions on the spec's listed on the site!!

What do ya reckon about the turbo and spec's??

Have you heard of anyone thats used one??

Remember I'm not after monster competition hp, just a small reliable increase so I don't hold up the B.Trains on hills

They just seem to be a bit unknown from what I've read. However they aren't liked on a bunch of car forums I read. Sounded like some people caught them bullshitting maybe.

One site rekoned they were cheapie chinese turbos being branded dsr here to give em more credibility and from this it seemed from people they either went really well or you bought a piece of crap. Seemed about 50:50 Plenty of people putting in their 2c worth though without having any experience.

dsr is short for drift side racing btw. Give you something else to search.

True.

I flicked him an email off his site about 20mins ago and he replied straight back to two more emails.

Seems very straight up. I asked some dumb ass questions too, like does it need water as well as oil, what is the exhaust flange on the Turb, stuff that is handy to know if your gonna DIY it :D

The kit has a 12month warranty and free shipping.

For those that had failed Turbo's, how many had their cars tuned correctly for the turbo (not running hot and leen), and how much boost where they squeezing out of it, was the oil and water plumbed correctly.........

Anyone know what the manifolds are like?? Are they a good fit, nicely machined flange's etc etc

DB, I don't know if you are looking at a kit specifically but I can vouch for the AXT kit from oz. Very good mid range and transforms the ol TD42.

I have seen some high boost and fuel levels going into these motors and showing no worries, a std turbo kit will not cause you any problems and be great bang for buck.

Hehe, yeah the ATX kits are great from what I hear.

I will admit that the $1100 price tag of the DSR kit is very apealing compared to the $3-4000 for the ATX and Safari kits....

There is a big difference between a Safari or AXT (etc) kit and a turbo and manifold which it appears is what the DSR kit is. The photos of the DSR manifold look pretty good and we're considering using one on a TB42 we are building at present.
But if you are concerned with reliablity then the cheap turbos can't really argue that point.
Also once I had the turbo fitted to my old truck, it cost about $1,000 to get all the plumbing finished and that was no labour just parts! Sure that is a bit over the top compared to what you are talking about (4" silicone bends aren't cheap!) but a $3,500 bolt on kit that includes a $1,500 turbo that you know will last a long time, can't really be compared to a (visually) good manifold and a cheap turbo.

That being said I'm pretty sure with you contact etc you'd be able to get the DSR manifold and then fit a good turbo etc and do it way cheaper than a full kit. (that's what I'd do in your position)
Or do you want to buy the factory turbo off my tow wagon and I'll build a new manifold etc for it? I have a twin turbo idea for it that might be a bit of fun!

Your'll found that most chinese turbos of any brand get bagged on pretty much all forums.thats what I'v found anyway.
Be nice to have a garret but at 3x the price...
some of the good chinese ones are ok IMO but which are the good ones

Masterpower turbo's are made in Brazil by the same guys that make a lot of garrett turbo's. Aparently they use garrett parts when repairing them. They are a fair bit cheaper than garrett but no where near the chinese ones.
