Vehicle/tyre size Vs diff clearance:list

Throught this might be interesting to see how different vehicles compair. useless information I know but have to fill the brain with something and dont want to much usefull stuff do we :D

Nissan Safari LWB

Tyres: Diff Clearance:
33"(30psi) 240mm

33"(20psi) 235mm

33"(15psi) 227mm

Nissan terrano V6

33x10.5x15 BFG 250 mm
(35 psi).

Suzuki SJ413

32" Simex ET(shaved diffs) 300mm
(20psi)

1990 Toyota Surf

37x12.5 x 16 Maxxis Creepy Crawlers

37" @ *30psi = 365mm
(*Crowning evident)

37" @ 20psi = 357mm

37" @ 10psi = 349mm

Oh my god those clearance are pathetic :roll: Thats why I run 35psi off road in the Safari :lol:

Nissan terrano V6 Widebody on 33x10.5x15 BFG MT's: 250 mm at 35 psi. Haven't measured lower pressure as it's usually in mud at those settings Usually go down to 18psi offroad

Suzuki SJ413 on 32" Simex Extreme Trekkers with shaved diffs @ about 20psi = 300mm :D

Suzuki Samurai widetrack diffs SPOA.
A Hilux on 35" Simex ET's with un-shaved diffs has about 5mm more clearance than me.

interesting. I have 315mm with very bald 35's (measured 33" with the tapemeasure). Ill have to borrow the creepies and see how much there is

hilux diff in a full floater axle case. Ground clearence AND more strength than the standard rover ones. They are VERY bald BFG's. Ill get some pics as soon as I get some more weight on it.

Measurements taken on loosely packed gravel driveway, will repeat on tarmac when time permits ..

Tyres Diff Clearance:
37" @ *30psi = 365mm

37" @ 20psi = 357mm

If I run 37's on the Safari I'd gain approx 50mm extra whitch would bring me to about 285mm@20psi still 2.5+ inchs short :oops:
