Has a nice interface and simple to use. Anyone know of a similar site for NZ tracks?

I did build something similiar into ore in the hope that the users would populate it, but it didnt get much interest. If you plugged your location in it showed tracks close to you. I could extend and improve it if the demand is there or people upload their favorite tracks. I dont mind building the application I just dont have the time to enter every track in nz in it given that I only know about 1 % of tracks.

I would be happy to drive a few tracks and send you my GPS log if thats all you need?

Would be nice to have a listing of public tracks somewhere.

I'll enable it so everyone can upload tracks, gps co-ordinates photos and descriptions. That way if 30 people put two tracks in each thats 60 which is prob double what i know

If people do that I'll add the map and get it looking a little nicer

Hi,
I'm new here and joined to find just this kind of info for 4x4 access into places to fish or hunt. I'm new to NZ so the whole place is like a vast unknown playground I can't wait to explore!

There is a good spot at www.koordinates.com where you can download a file (you will need to crop it to your area of interest) for google earth or ArcGIS. For NZ it has tracks & paths on one map so some exploration will need to be done to see whether they are passable by vehicle or not!

It's a start and it your site gets up and running I'll send my gps logs once I start to get out there!

What that page needs is a big "add new track" button so it's obvious to users that they can.
