im always coming down teh Akataweras and smashing the bulbs in my rear bumpers light fittings, im thinking i'll search for some LED trailer combo lights to replace these.

anyone think this is a good idea nd would it be legal as my ONLY rear lights are these ones and the fog lights, i have no 3rd brake light.

Just go to a wreckers and get a light cluster from a SWB one and replace the side ones with that. They have light, reverse, indicator adn brake all in them. And the wiring is probably even there for it!

Pop!

if your only blowing bulbs and not smashing lens you can just change the bulbs to led's. a lot easier than replacing the whole lens with led lights.
you just have to get bright enough ones.
also have to be careful if you have a vehicle with blown bulb indicator (ie light on dash that tells you a light bulb has blown. there's a few tricks to getting around that.

i've used http://ledbulbs.co.nz/product_info.php/ ... f170138e16
for the brake lights.

i assume you asking about those led's.....
yeah they are quite good. but that will depend a bit on what lamp is used and shape of the lens.
they work great on my toyo but that has a bigger lean that wraps around the side, so it makes good use of the sideways firing leds.
its a bit more even than normal bulbs.

those ones are far far better than the multi led ones you get at places like DSE.

they are red leds so they work really well with faded lens.
