and let the fun begin

the wonders of ORE. You are going to be told (or do a search on Nankang Mudstars coz they are the same tyre, but you will be told) a hundered different air pressures to run

some run 30

some run 36

some run 40

I personally have always run 25 in my 80 Series Cruiser and before that my BJ74 MWB Cruiser.

they have done over 50k and are now showing real bad signs of edge wear which is entirely my fault for running them at lower pressures, but I wouldn't have it any other way, I find the ride too harsh at higher pressures

So take all the advice on board and then try different combos on your truck until you are happy

I have 33inch Buckshots (with standard tubes) on a Hilux running at 36 psi for road going. Been told to slightly over inflate so as to not where the shoulders out (the predominant mud cutting part), but this could be hoopla. Offroad, never needed to air them down as of yet.

I run at 30 PSI on road. But with tyres I have had with tubes run them down to about 10 to 8 PSI off road, but do have bead locks. But lots of guys in our club dont have bead locks and run down to 8 PSI and have never taken a tyre off a rim.

If the vehicle still has the placard on the door sill somewhere thats a good place to start. You can experiment and vary a bit from there to get the compromise between ride and handling that seems to suit best. Our landcruiser sticker says about 28psi unladen and up to about 40psi I think when fully laden, although I have never had them that high (the reading on the door is in kPa so I had to do the conversion to psi also). I always tend to hover around the 30psi mark - seems to suit what we do.

I did read once that if the tyres are at the correct pressure they should increase by 4psi between a cold reading and a hot reading after a reasonable journey. If they increase less they are over inflated, or if they increase more they are under inflated. Never actually tried that though......
