We have a new support truck that while it is 4x4 it is quite large. Will we be able to get this to the new camping spot as it has our BBQ, showers etc built in?

I'm sure with BBQ and showers in it that there'd be a shiteload of offers to help tow it onsite

Like every good support truck it has it's own winch but it seats 8 people plus has all the other stuff on the back. I love sponsors who also compete in Targa as they have all the good toys!!!

And like all events, our showers are for the use of others, FOR A SMALL PRICE

If you are talking about my truck then no it isn't ready and won't be this year. Hopefully it will be finished by the end of the year but won't be racing until next year.
We are going to be a one truck team all year so Dan will just have to make do with a support crew of about 10!

We have even sorted out Sky TV for this year so that we can watch Bathurst on Sunday afternoon.

Hi all,

Entry form is here:

http://www.manukau4wd.org.nz/trip-info. ... trip_id=37

or go to www.manukau4wd.org.nz, click on club trips and then more info for the winch challenge.

I plan on starting with scrutineering early Saturday morning (7.00) and racing from 8.30.

8 Saturday stages, 1 or 2 night stages and 4 Sunday stages. All finishing by 12.00 Sunday.

I'm still working on the camping options and hope to be able to move the camp site away from last year's location.

My email and contact details are on the entry form. I am away next week so I will not answer any email enquiries before Tues Aug 3 at the earliest.

Last year camping was 'in the thick of it' and due to the weather, required MT equipped vehicles for all access. This severely limited trailers etc. I am working on an alternative solution and when I have completed negotiations I will notify it here and on the trips page at www.manukau4wd.org.nz. Please be assured that there will be camping available. The worst case scenario is same place as last year.

I went to have another look at parsons road on google earth

last time I looked, I'm sure I saw a school nearby

dunno if its been said or used before as I've had nothing to do with manukau winch challenge in past, but...........

is there a school nearby that could be used for camping

get them to open up toilets for ya

hell they may even want to do a sausage sizzle or something to raise funds for the school

just a suggestion

Hi guys,

Have had confirmation from Onewhero Domain Board that their site is available for camping. First hurdle negotiated. Now working on hot showers and bar in Rugby Club. Will keep you posted on this. So it is looking more likely that things may be more civilised this year.

Have only 9 paid or partially paid entries so far and many verbals. So c'mon guys, get your entries in and give me some certainty.

Hi guys,

Went out to the farm yesterday with Scott Walsh (track setter) and had a good look over the new area. Excellent potential for a full day of varied stages there and all fairly close together. Sunday stages will be assessed in a few weeks.

Also furthered negotiations with Onewhero Rugby Club and that venue is now confirmed available to us from Friday until Sunday. The Rugby Club is on Hall Road, Onewhero (opposite the school) and is 3k from the farm cattle stop. There is plenty of room for camping, pits and support vehicles (even trucks). The building facilities include hot showers, toilet facilities, relaxation area and bar. I intend having the bar available in the evenings but only after racing is completed.

What is the least amount of trucks you need to run the event?

Indications are all positive and I am sure the event will proceed.
