Post by adimw2 »

Hey guys,

I've been up what I thought was the Akataweras but have been told tonight is infact Odlins road..

Is there any google maps references/difficulty ratings etc for the Wellington tracks?

Thanks for any info!!!

You went up to the top of Akatawera Road, and when you got to the top you turned to the right and went up into the bush. Thats Odlins Road.

I have broken a leafspring in there at 2pm and haven't made it out till 9pm! Then I had to get home....

I know Reece know his shit about that area, so those are some very very wise words.

Have a look here http://www.offroadexpress.co.nz/Forums/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=21908&start=45. There was a group of us up Odlins Road on Sunday.

Best to go with at least one other vehicle, just in case. We travelled 16 kms along Odlins Road to where we had lunch, and then came back out the same way, we were in there about 7 hours.

I am sure there will be another group in there soon.

Would be, but said to be on call this weekend. Only been a little bit further (to a slip) upto where the Lada had rolled off on that track.

im just keen for 4wding in general, the only reason i said shiny is cos i have std tow bar & front hook, std height, 31" AT's on a LWB Pajero and imagine its only going to do fairly shiny trips. I am however happy to scratch my paint. its just dont wanna be a drag on others with people having to tow me .... or leave me stuck because i do not have rated hooks. I got money to do these things just dont wanna pay some $WD shop heaps to get it done... mates rates anyone?
