Yeah. Wasn't my achievement though, but thought it was worth a mention.

Boat was the only thing that saved him from rolling as he went off sideways, but it was also what pushed him off sideways, so I wouldn't really thank it all that much if I was him

Not the best start but was a great day.

Went for a spin round the south coast on sat was bloody good, saw a lot of the guys off here coming back from a trip round there, and could see all the tracks through the sand.

On the way home my 5th gear crapped itself. Gotta love Terrano gearboxes. This weekend project, pull gearbox, hope like hell it is just a bearing which I can replace easily!!

If anyone has any hint or tips feel free to fill in this neewbie!

Cheers,

Hate to bring bad news. When my old terrano lost 5th it had broken the 5th gear off the main shaft. When you get it rebuilt use high quality roller bearings. Nissan used ball bearing ones and occurding to the now retired gearbox guru that did mine that was the problem with the box. Mine was a completely different box ofter the fix and never gave me greif again.
Toy - Zuk chassis tub, hilux 4.88 axles and transfer, Nissan CA18DE motor and auto trans, sc12 supercharger, 32 10'5 simex, twin motor 8274 custom freespool. Well the parts are all there in various corners of the shed

Took my Lj78 for its first off road (since I got it, infact looking at it could be ever) with the club to Waiuku, I was evey happy with it. Handled different than the R50 Terrano, seemed to be higher geared, but something I will get used to. )

Cheers for the heads up on the roller bearing!

Well, I got the gearbox out and apart tonight, lucky for me 5th gear is still intact, and it was only a collapsed bearing. Unusual though as the bearing that has failed is the one that is on the input shaft, which all gears drive through, but it only shuddered in 5th gear. Weird.

New parts tomorrow, then back together on friday, then BEER time
