Hi mike,

just checked the Haynes manual i have. Didn't find any notes about yielding of the head bolts. The section on the engine simply stated a three step torque procedure with no warnings to discard the original ones. I guess you would visually inspect the ones you have and reuse them if they looked ok. Does anybody else know for sure?

I asked an engine recon outfit about it and they reckoned you didn't have too get new ones. I've used old bolts in the hack and its been fine. New bolts would be a safe bet though. All three of my manuals don't mention anything about it either......useless

if you have already put in old ones are you able to just take the old ones out and swap for new ones or is it best to just leave them in there?

My guess is that it would be best to leave the old ones in there so you don't disturb the gasket and saved the money as well.
