Mods on bros short track. :)

Post by petefj40 »

Bro has a what we call a short track on his first paddock close to his house where we have a bit of fun on from time to time.

Last week i had a chap clear my front section of my property ready for concrete. We call him "Digger Dave". He owns his own bob cat n truck. He specializes in driveways. I asked him if he'd have a look at my bros paddock and see what he could do to make the track a little more fun. As i found out. Before the Crusty Demons stopped using soil for building their ramps (they use plastic rubber, easier to clean up stadiums) for their jumps, Dave was employed by them to help build them. He's also hired by Rodeos in Auzzy to help build their event parks. He's paid to head over their a few times a year. This guy also rides free style motor cross. Jumps/back flips bikes/quads is natural for him. A talented young fella.

We had him scope out Adams short track last Sunday. He recons he can bank some corners, create one or two jumps for us. Said he'd do it for nothing so long as he can use it now and then.

So watch this space for the changes in the track.
Should be a laugh!

Here's what the track looks like now pretty much.
(me getting it wrong a few times in the 40  )

And what the track looks like from google earth.

did you have your rear locker in pete? if not you should it would allow you to hang the rear out at lower speed because the diff allows the outside wheel with all the weight on it to bite untill the power overides it, but with the locker the slightest touch on the power cause that wheel to spin and step out. My surf with the auto locker is like that, so much fun

Couldnt do that in my LR though, full time 4wd :(

I'm pretty sure the rear one was in the whole time Mike (but then again, I just watched one wheel spin when i first go out  ). But i never turned the front one on when I finally went into 4WD (on the last couple of laps). I find the long the wheel base is the easier it is to control drifting. Like the Holden is real easy to hold in a drift. But the 40 is REAL twitchy.

Sounds like Pucker Parks getting some competition  Should see if he'd be interested in having a nosey up there and giving some advice on the motox track layout.

I'll have word to him Jase. I'd say he'd be keen to checkout the park anyway.

And down that short back straight will be some short of jump.

He recons by summer he'll have it sorted.

Was chatting to Dave re the new motor cross track at the Waimac. They've recently spent thousands upgrading it.
Don't know if anyone here has used it yet. But Dave recons they have all the trajectory's wrong. I mean this guy builds motor cross tracks. He has a few clues. he recons it's dangerous.

I was chatting to an old neighbor today and he said his mate was using it recently and wrote off the rear of his motor bike last time he was on that track. He was lucky he didn't break any bones.. He missed the landing pad by meters. And he wasn't even going that fast he recons..

Dave recons the council took the cheapest quote to do the job. Trouble is. The people that built it have no idea how to build a safe track with jumps in it.

Digger Dave has dropped off around 10 truck loads of dirt to build up one corner. This was before the quake. He's pretty busy right now. (as you'd expect) But he's still gunna finish it before the summer gets here he recons. :D

Digger Dave started shaping up one of the corners.

Taking some pot holes before the straight.

Then it had to be tested.
