And onto the 40 tomorro.
Toyota Landcruiser FJ40, front and rear lockers, 35" simex.
Toyota FJ45 build in progress.
Tires are like boobs, they always look big until you have played with them for a while, then you just want a bigger set.

Got the Hilux into the garage today to have a look for a shudder that its had when taking off, 2 of the 3 ujoints in the driveshaft are absolutely stuffed.
Have had a look at taking the old ones out of the yokes but have given up trying to knock them out and no progress in the vice. They don't seem to have the snap rings that my workshop manual mentions.
Where should I take the driveshaft in Welly to get the ujoints replaced?

Rebuilt and extended the carport out the front, now it can cover my Humber Hawk and brothers Mini with working space for the Suzuki (if I push the mini out) Now just to add a door, side and window.

Ordered a heavy duty clutch for the Suzuki and got new alternator and power steering belt. Decided I will sell some of the spares I have for the Suzuki.

Tomorrow will be taking the gearbox out, cutting bonnet ready for snorkel, and prepping and painting the mud wheels. :D

Put gear box in, test drive all is well, go to head to missus house to show off how good I am at fixing cars, only to lose 3rd and 4th gear. Dick head.

I think I stuffed up the syncro inserts and they have flipped out leaving me with a 3 speed box.

Tomorrow, do it all again...

Went down to the square as part of the conservation week.

4 Trucks there on display to pull the punters in for a look to see what else was going on

Image

Was also a good test for the new tow wagon (Ford 150 for a big ass v8).

Shame I have to take it back on Monday :( Has been interesting to drive a left hand drive vehicle, especially through the McDonalds drive through. Very tempting to take it out for a 4wd but think I had better not temp fate.

Installed boost & EGT gauge on dash in preparation for my turbo install.

Finished off my spotlight wiring including wiring to an internal switch on dash and to high beam, both via 30amp relay. Wires will run through one of the tubes of my bullbar to keep things tidy.

Started grinding the welds on my bullbar to prepare for paint. Managed to stuff my back pulling it out of the back of my Safari (must be about 60kg).

Had a piece of steel in my eye since friday (got it out this morning) so been in a shit mood all weekend
To make things worse I pulled out my air locker out, only to find the diff pinnion teeth cracked an broken
On the plus side it is an old Roberts/early arb locker. Bad thing about the locker centre is that the spider gears had all picked up on the pinion shafts :x :x  wonder if I can still get parts for it

had another play with sadams motor today .had a couple of broken exhaust studs to get out .two came out easy but the third is being a bitch .Drilled it out with a cobalt drill first then broke the easyout in it feck feck feckin feck.then learnt a new trick .Being alloy heads if you are quick you can gas cut the broken easiout out without melting the head .Then broke the cobalt drill in there feck feck feckin feckin feck .now i need some more cobalt drills .still some of the broken stud in there as the drill wandered off centre .might be a case of over drill it and helicoil it now.had to have a couple of tuis to calm down .Worked a treat now i,m calm and ready for a few more.Pity i have work tomorrow. The other acheivement for the weekend was as my van is in the panelbeaters for a month they have given me a loan van .A 1.8 diesel ford escort .Bloody thing struggles to get up my drive in 2nd gear ( my drive is not very steep).Trying to fit a hiace vans worth of gear into an escort van does not work . insurance man says repairs will be a couple of weeks panelbeater says at least three .needs a new rear tailgate ,front passenger door, rear left quarter chop ,new left radiator, front left pillar repair and a whole new roof. The bugger is some of the parts are ex japan .Think they may take more than a couple of weeks Triple feck.

Spent some tne in the shed and got most of the dash rewire/tidy up done.

Pulled starter motor, which was another victim of rotorua, brushes were jamed solid and every spare space was full of mud. Cleaned and put back together reinstalled only to find i stuck the lever from the soliniod in backwards  back and and back in again.

Nearly ready for Manukau now, well thats if then engine copes with the extra puff.
Toy - Zuk chassis tub, hilux 4.88 axles and transfer, Nissan CA18DE motor and auto trans, sc12 supercharger, 32 10'5 simex, twin motor 8274 custom freespool. Well the parts are all there in various corners of the shed
