Someone suggested that I should look at using a smaller steering wheel in my L200.
Any thoughts for or against?

Re: Smaller steering wheel.
why do you need a smaller steering wheel?
Re: Smaller steering wheel.

Re: Smaller steering wheel.
the smaller wheel means he cant yank it as hard therefore reducing the risk of tipping it on its side

i used to Cruise, now i PATROL
Re: Smaller steering wheel.
All you will achieve with a smaller wheel is make it harder to drive ..... youll have less leverage & have to work way harder....a dumb idea !!!!

Re: Smaller steering wheel.
Thats crazy talk. If the utes got power steering he'll be fine going a wee bit smaller and a new wheel makes an old vehicle feel a whole lot better!
I went just a few inches smaller in my safari and went with another nissan wheel (often different vehicles share the same spline etc.... ) and it was the best mod I did in relation to daily driving the thing.
Do it
and if you wanna be cheap try a nice newer GSR wheel or something. It'll probably fit on no problems and if it doesn't then whats the loss.

A nice wheel definately makes a 4x4 feel less like you're piloting a bus.

Re: Smaller steering wheel.
I've got a momo one in my Terrano. It's 350mm which seems to be a perfect size for a 4wd IMO.
The 320mm wheel I had in my mazda was alot smaller and would have been a bitch in the Terrano. I can only imagine it'd be worse in larger vehicles. Keep an eye out on tardeme, you can get some pretty good deals if you're quick.
I wouldn't get one of the shitty $25 boss kits from trademe though. I got one but didn't use it. It was too dodgy looking lol. The $80 ones at ripco and supershit are alot better quality.

Thats very good advice.
The cheap wheels are also incredibly flimsy.
