Pretty much nothing up there,
Most paper roads I know off up there just go across farm paddocks and dont have much of a challenge.
A little paper road I used to play on all the time, but it is only a km or so long, but it has a damm steep section on it, which is alway fun after a bit of rain.
It runs from Gray Road which comes off Gumtown Rd, off Three Mile Bush and you come out on Pearson Road which then goes onto Kara Road. Gray Rd is where the lion park is. Just go stright to the end of the road and though the gate stright ahead, there a Totaras growing either side of the boundary along the road,
The best way to find it is from the top, as at the bottom there is a cleverly placed private property sign which makes you think the road is private, but the sign is on private property just next to the road.
Ive seen that property owner several times and hes never been a problem.

I am aware of maybe a dozen others in that area, But I havent actually investigated them.

Just remebered one that a guy I used to work with always used to play on, Its about 5km long, Ive never been out there thou, It goes from Mason Rd though to Old Tokatoka Rd/ Hilford Rd out at Waiotira, Looking on Google earth - If you look on map view you can see the boundaries of where it goes, it looks like it goes though a foresty block now although the track looks fairly clear and obvious, so not to sure bot access anymore.

If you want a good map of the area to help you keep on the right track, give Les Allen a visit in the map shop downstairs at Lands and Survey - 18 Reyburn St, just by the roundabout at Beaurepaires.
He makes real good custom maps - such as high quality photos with real accurate property information for only $10ish from memory
He'll know the Mason Road paper road well and he'll know of quiet a few others in that area
I'd be interested if you find some good track, thou it looks like I wont be up in the North anytime soon

Yeah went out with SamZuki a couple of weekends ago was good bit wet in places and the farmers were happy to open gates and show us where to go (so we dont go on there land) we went via Hilford Road and went both ways but it got quite wet and narrow. I slipped off the track and had Sam's SJ pull me out (30min later). We went to Masons Road and it looked better to start from there but we only walked a bit through as it was quite wet. the Zuks will go through easy as but the bighorn was a bit heavier and wider with worn M/T's so I had a bit of trouble. Im looking to go out again in a couple of weeks but with my brother's M/T's as they have more tread on them than mine.
Cheers
