replacing rear sliders with fixed

Post by Heath »

So is it just a matter of removing the sliders and replacing with rubbers and fixed panes?

Mate has a high top with sliders and wants them replaced with fixed. does any fixed lwb saf/pat window fit?

Should he attempt to do it himself or get a panel beater to do it? Not sure of his Mech skills or the tools he might have at his disposal.

Have got a lwb with fixed windows, its an 91 AD model GQ, had a quick measure for you, inside edges of the rubber, it's not exact just close (ish) the windows are a bit of a funny shape.

770mm top horizontal
840mm bottom horizontal
450mm center vertical

most Saf LWB ive seen have solid rear windows, as far as i'm aware (and may be wrong ...not that up on Whales) the low roof Patrols and the High roof Saf's should be the same up to the roof height, maybe the factory 7 seaters where fitted with the rear sliders only??. so the easiest way would be to just replace with sliders with solids from a wrecker, the rubbers a one piece affair that should be pretty easy to fit at home if you have ever fitted an old skool windscreen with a bit of patience.

Aussie built ones had the sliding windows

I had solid windows on my safari. They are easy to remove but a pita to re-install.

Totally recommend finding the glass and taking it to an expert to get done.
