umm its a tired old 88 diesel safari

7inch lift Superior Engineering Superflex kit, 37x14.5r15 Maxxis Creepy Crawler, bodylift...building a Tuff Truck type truck so there is still alot of work to go into this, we are also building another truck the same spec as this but low roof and petrol.

was going to use 38inch Creepy's from the states but i now have a wheel supplier for 17inch alloy beadlocks so will be running the 37's for street use and some 4wd'n and 40inch Trepador sticky's for crawling...will be running Allied 4x4 rims from auz which are on afew trucks that compete in tuff truck.

Fawk rock crawling in that, it's COG is way WAY WAY to high

Any thoughts on dropping some lift out of it and cutting the guards to get the 40's under it instead?? Would make it go better :D :D

Would make an awesome sth island river truck like it is though!!!!!!

not worried bout it wanting to tip in anyway what so ever and no it wont be going lower because im building this to play in big rocks not the type of stuff you boys with 4inch lift will need to be skull dragged over...this truck is running same set up as mine and it goes pretty much everywhere.

if you need to to be dragged over car sized rocks give me a call and ill be happy to do it

You've got to understand DB's post though. Heaps of weight up high = tippy on sidelings.

Dont see many of the trials guys with high wagons but I guess that's not what you are building this truck for anyway. I'm guessing you take the family wheeling on weekends?

Alot of guys go SWB to improve ramp over angle which would get round the need to be so high.

Anyway, I like it. 8) Reckon I could use it to launch and retrieve the boat even on the flattest of beaches.

Looking forward to hearing more about the beadlock rims to. You do any steel 15x12" beadlocks?

yea not into trails at all, i find it like watching paint dry but worse haha. i not a fan of shortys i think they look foot too short although a shorty body (well most of it)will end up on this chassis haha

not sure yet about Allied 4x4 beadlocks as it wont be until after xmas until we look at bringing them in to nz will most likely only be 15x8 15x10 steel around $1000.00 per set of 4.15x8 17x8 alloy around $1500.00 per set of 4

Interesting choice of vehicle. Will be interested to see how it goes. My pick is you will be sorting the truck cab out real early on as recovering flopped rigs in rocks is not the same as wallowing around in the mud, and with a COG up where that thing is, you will be flopping it a fair bit (assuming you are going hard out  :P ).
Have you shaved the diff housings to gain the extra clearance? and what sort of gear reductions are you running? With a big ole bitch like her you are going to need the best part of 200 - 1 or you will be forever breaking shit through drive line stress caused by high rev's and instant loading.

I am not a fan of external bead locks as they only lock 1 side of the tyre, and when playing on rocks you are just as likely to blow an inside bead off, this is why I run narrower (8") rims on a 15.5" tyre.

Cool to see some one else who wants to play, shame your in the wrong Island

went with nissan after playing with afew other makes of truck because of parts you can get and for there drivetrain. diffs are pretty much standard at the moment as the suspension has cost quite abit to get...but diffs are the next thing on the list to be done, well im starting on them now.

have been looking at 85% reduction gears for the transfer to help get it up over rocks. i do know what you are saying about external beadlocks but havent found them too bad so far on other things...if i have problems ill just put some internals in also as my mate has acouple of sets or staun 15inch internals.

haha mate no need to worry about it not been driven how it should, eveything i own gets a hammering...not much point in owning something if you arent going use it for what its for.

just over 14g at this point including buying the truck which is pretty good when you look at the shit boxes with 4inchs of lift and fucked bodys for 10g on trademe. suspension is worth more than the truck and works AWESOME...!!! best thing i have spent money on drives over big arse rocks, logs...makes it nice and easy to change the oil also.

i dont think i would ever have a 4wd again with anything under 37's and the ground clearance this has, it makes things that used to be alittle hard a waste of time now even starting the truck up for.
