Courier 2.5TD Running temperature.

Post by Proctor »

Hey all, after installing an after market water temperature gauge tonight I went for a quick drive down down the motorway, I found that my running temperature at 100km/h Was around the 105 degrees Celsius mark.

As the faulty stock gauge had no kind of upper and lower limit indications I have no idea what the normal running temperature should be, and a google search has been no help.

Can anyone provide me with some insight?

Not sure what the temp is supposed to be but do know that the cooling systems are known for clogging up. If it has a fes kays on it (like over 70,000) it will be well over due for a radiator rodding, not just a flush but top tank off and each tube rodded.

Mate/sponser (Whangarei Radiators) is at me to do mine and the truck only has 45000k on it. He wants it before it pokes the radiator and then the engine.
Toy - Zuk chassis tub, hilux 4.88 axles and transfer, Nissan CA18DE motor and auto trans, sc12 supercharger, 32 10'5 simex, twin motor 8274 custom freespool. Well the parts are all there in various corners of the shed

Hi,

I run a bounty on the road, the thermostat is fully open at 86 deg C. If you going heaps over that, then somethings up
If it is spewing out water or you are having to add it then the head WILL be cracked (they all do it, apparently).
Bolted a chinese one on for about $1200 incl all new exhaust valves and head studs. 105 is too high.
I keep looking for the loose nut behind the wheel, but I can't find it!!

New thermostat and flush time. get the rad done as well (cheaper then a new donk) and change the hoses too (keep the old ones for spares). Mine was running hot and then the head went (petrol 2.2 courier), cost me over a grand.

I would imagine it should be around 87-95 deg C. My prado runs at 86 deg C most of the time.

Cheers for the quick responses guys, I will definitely be taking her in on Monday for a new thermo, might go to the local radiator specialists for a proper flush and service, I would preferably like to avoid a new head 8)
