1kz-te manifold.

Post by koma »

Im looking at putting an intercooler of a prado on the surf, but hear that the inlet manifolds are different between the intercooled and non intercooled 1kz. Anybody know what the difference between the 2 is? Cheers

I don't think there is anything different between manifolds per say.
However you will need more than just the intercooler to fit it.
You will need..
Flat rocker cover (or modify yours)
Pipe from turbo to intercooler.
Throttle body (intercooler version different to non).
Longer throttle cables.
Here are some pictures of a factory intercooler fitted to a non intercooled 1KZTE in a Prado.

If you want more info on an intercooler install I have done one on my 1KZTE but grafted in an isuzu one.

Cheers, those photos are great. Yea i've just cut the top off a standard tappet cover, is there any special reason for the different throttle body? Just thinking I could make up a flange to mate the standard one to the intercooler.

Yeah you could, but I think the throttle cables get in the way of the Intercooler. And you dont really need the throttle body...

Read my thread in previous post.

Do a search on this forum....There are a few of us who have played with intercoolers for the 1KZTE....
