So far a good start to the weekend,

Got pissed off with driving around with bent steering idler arm and forever changing steering geometry so made up some new bits for it.

Made a steering idler arm support, slider plates for both ends of the centre link and machined up some phosphor bronze bushes for the idler arm to replace those stupid plastic ones, I don't know what nissan was thinking when they designed this, but now it is fixed!

Tomorrow go and put them in and then do my wheel alignment.

Check the pics

If anyone is keen on a set let me know as I'd be keen as to do it as a cashy.

Cheers,

Ali or steel? I would think ali is a bit soft for this sort of thing and crack if worked (flexed).

Nice work though. Wish I could do that, my welds look like they were scraped from the bottom of an bird cage.

Cheers guys, it's steel, the sliders are 5mm thick and the idler arm support is 6mm thick.

It was nice to weld with the arc again, Mig is a bit to much of just point and squirt (what I use at work mostly) but getting a good weld with arc on that sort of stuff is pretty easy with a bit of practice.

I'm trying to save some coin to buy some steel to make some sliders and replace the stupid running boards on the side of it at the moment, they are bent to heck already and I have only done really light 4x4ing!

Well after getting sick of the winch rope jumping the drum on the Safari everytime I use it, I decided to make some new tabs for the side rollers and move then in 30mm, worked great as well, but the down side is I have to buy some new wire because I lost 18 meters due to using it last weekend.

Finally got the gearbox and clutch in, just got to bolt the rest of the stuff in now. :)

Also went to look at a lada that my brother is buying, its ok for a lada but i think there is more pressing matters like our clubman track car project than a bloody lada

That look awesome Chrome!

Did you put a pressure switch in? or just rely on the relief valve?

I am looking at doing this to my truck soon as the AC is dead anyway. I need it mostly for beading up motorcycle race tyres (Change shit loads of them at the track) But can't always rely on power for the compressor. Do you think it would pump enough to bead them at endless air or will a tank be required?

Sorry for the questions, just real keen to know!

Cheers,

Went out for a play today with SamZuki to Old Tok Road, farmers were more than happy to unlock any gates to the paper roads and tell us where to go at further gates. Only problem soft muddy tracks and heavy bighorn with worm M/T's dont get you quite there but the zuki got through no problem + a 20-30min recovery of the bighorn due to slipping off the track a pucker moment at one stage

I would have pics but it says it cant be more than 801 pixels wide and its at 692 pixes wide and still says it to big ahhh (gives up after 20min of trying)

shot into the army land with the local club for a fang thru some back tracks, not the most ideal to take a big whale 80 on thou, and suffered cause of its size and lack of lockers in a couple of spots :( but only had to be towed up 1 hill (that only a couple drove, out of 21) and when i got off track slighty and poped a CV :(

Went to look at the "bloody lada", as according to Lincoln. Pretty good engine and interior. Exterior - not so good. Most likely picking it up next weekend. So that's $700 gone :) Clubman track car may have to wait for me to leave school...
