Im thinking about going for a drive this weekend, either sat or sun. has anyone got any advice about the above beach (i have never been there)? would i be ok to go alone in a suzuki escudo? any parts to watch out for? should i go north or south from bayleys? anyone else want to come?
experienced driving on sand, escudo = winch, locked rear, 30 x 9.5

its an awesome place. No reason for you to get stuck on bayleys beach as there is plenty of firm sand to drive on.
Also there are lots of petrified wood lumps there that are pretty good to climb all over with the truck.
no idea on the legalities of it all but we saw no signs saying otherwise and there were millions of dirt bikes flying around.

Ive been meaning to get up there, few years ago my old man got married at Poutu, he drove his WRX down the beach around to Poutu so cant be too bad. think you got to time the tides right?

I camped out there a couple of new years ago, all sweet mate no worries. plenty of good spots, nice friendly locals and great location.
