ARMY LAND FUNDRAISER 30/31 OCT

Post by badnuz »

Hi All

There is an upcoming trip thru the Waiouru Army land on October 31-31st

Army personal will guide the participants thru a wide variety of terrain. There will be opportunities for people and their vehicles to wallow in mud and take in scenery seldom seen by civilians. This is to be a unique and one off opportunity for our team fundraising efforts for the Variety bash, and variety, the children’s charity. A two day event on army and farmland with a gymkhana on the Sunday, suitable for shineys thru to club level. Meals to be provided! Details to follow. Contact : kandy@motts.co.nz

The 4WD tour will cover the Army Training ground to the North of Waiouru where very few civilians are permitted to enter and see the amazing views and country side including: Mt Ruapehu, the Kaimanawa Ranges and the Mowhango Dam.
The money raised will be contributing to the Veggie Bus teams’ Variety Bash fundraising, in support of Variety the Children’s Charity.
The aim is to travel across the Army Training area as much as possible all day Saturday. This will be subject to weather conditions and with safety being paramount. We will leave the Army area late on Saturday afternoon and return via Waiouru to Karioi Domain for the evening. At the Karioi Domain you will be able to relax, unwind, and enjoy a wonderful evening meal, go over the day or listen to music provided by us. On Sunday morning after breakfast we will be travelling through local farmland returning to the Karioi Domain for lunch.
The “Muster” is designed as a family affair, a chance to make new friends, see a unique and un-trekked part of New Zealand and enjoy our hospitality.
Home base, with free camping, including toilets and a number of showers is Karioi Domain, Powells Road, Ohakune. You may choose to set up camp on Friday afternoon if you’d like.

Dirt and tussock with a few big holes and heaps of vehicle tracks. Carefull the ones with wider tracks leading into water pools - they might be really deep and be suited to mogs/pinz sized vehicles.

Have fun though.

Damn, but that's bloody generous of you Rob!!! But my Siwsan has insisted that we stay at the Top Ten Camp ground in an "en suite" cabin.

Unless you have several gas fired patio heaters?????

Got back this afternoon. had a great time, truck is plastered in mud and cow shit... pickles was unable to differentiate between cow dung and mud, well you can guess the rest.
yesterday we went up past the live firing ranges near the base of ruapehu, went back to play in the mud holes which incapacitated all the land rovers. someone has a photo of 4 land/range rovers all stuck together in the mud with strops with a ford courier doing donuts round them all. followed by a argo quad doing figure eights around them..
event well run and recommended for next year...
