Tyres to try on for size in Wellington/Hutt

Post by Weasel »

I have a GQ with 2 sets of tyres: 32" Simex and 285/75 R16 BFG Muddies.

The BFG's are about half worn so wont be as effective offroad as I would like...so thinking of selling and helping cover some of cost of new set of muddies which will be for safari's n stuff like that.

Im thinking some 315/70 R16's. I would like to try some on for size and see what offset is right to fill out to edge of the flares, so if anyone has a set this size (or 35's) and is happy to throw em on my wagon that'd be great!

At moment it's off the road as WOF run out and stripped down waiting for panel shop so cant drive anywhere, so if the tyres can come to me (Naenae) thats awesome, and if not thats cool - will just wait til she's back on the road :)

Cheers

Awesome thanks Taz and Sig. I might call you Taz when have time to pop around and pick her up to try. When she's mobile Sig would be good to try the full set on roll up say Holborn drive or something to see what it does to gearing too.

Cheers and will be in touch

same as them

but what offset rims and size are you going for

I have a set of 35" creepies on 15 x 10 rims on a -50 offset

if they fit then you should fit just about anything

Brain fart...

Not 35s, I meant 33s.

Managed to borrow some from mudy1 to chuck on and have a spin around the block so will give that a go before the weekend to test it out. :P

I hope they do, will save me from doing a body lift or suspension lift for awhile. :?

Got my tyre back from getting it repaired today so will chuck photo's up in the other thread for those who care. Damn good job though, can hardly tell! :D :D :D :D :D

Ah yeah ... on a truck now? Could pop round and have a peep to keep me well enthusiastic until my new baby comes back out of panel and paint shop and I start putting her back together again...

The BFG's that I would sell are 285/75 R16's so would use the 16's if poss...eg 315/75 R16's. Although Im open to selling BFG's on rims and replacing with 15 rims which means I can take advantage of the slightly better deals that seem to be avail on imperial sized tyres.

Q: Is the offset of the rim included in part of the code stamped on the rim? If it is then I can have a look at what it is for the 16's on there now, and on the 15's the Simexes are on (Simexes quite narrow).

PM your address, I will pop round tonight and you can see my tyres on my Safari.... to give you some idea of offset.

Cheers
