Scrutineering Requirments

Post by Brown Smurf »

I'm looking at going to my first 4wd safari this month and heard there can be a scutineering session?
I know I need rated hooks front and rear, a low range gearbox
But what else do they need?
Tires?,
Wof and Reg?

um you need to give more info
eg
what is the event you are going to
what body is running it
is it a private club run or open to the public
we could all give a list that is an arms lenght long to cover all trips but that would be just nasty

more info bud :D

Cheers,

When you register they should send you out a pack that will ouline what is required.

Would imagine (and dont quote me) that basics would include tow hooks, snatch strap, spade, spare, reg and WOF, extingusher, and firast aid kit would be the min.
Toy - Zuk chassis tub, hilux 4.88 axles and transfer, Nissan CA18DE motor and auto trans, sc12 supercharger, 32 10'5 simex, twin motor 8274 custom freespool. Well the parts are all there in various corners of the shed

The Ahuroa Fund Raiser has the following as safety requirements, The Kauri Coast run Jan 2011 has very similar requrements so I assume the Waiouru would be also similar.

• No Dogs or Fire arms.
• All vehicles to be equipped with the following
1. Rated tow hooks
2. Approved recovery strap
3. Spade
4. Mud tyres
5. Fire extinguisher 2kg
6. First aid kit

Mud Tyres may be optional depending on what terrain your going on.

Good quality Towing Eyes can be preferable by some than hooks as hooks can break or pierce recovery strops if they partially come off.

Clubs have fairly uniform requirements on their web pages eg:

Some trips places require a Spark arrestor but fairly rare. The Kauri Coast trip I am doing in Jan has a Spark arrestor as a requirement for all vehicles. None of our regular club events so far that i have done have needed one.
