Diff rebuild time?

Post by DaveM »

Noticed today that the rear pinion seal on the 80 was leaking, so ordered a new seal. Just got under the truck to see if there was anything else wrong, and noticed there is play, up and down on the pinion.
I'm assuming I'm now looking at $$$ for a rebuild?

Cheers

Do they not normally have a tab to stop them coming loose? Will be great if its that easy!
Will probably take it to Toyota tomorrow and get them to give it a look over :(

i just rebuilt my bj60 diff, theyre not rocket science to do, theres heaps of tech articles on the web.

for mine the bearing kit with nut, crush tube, seal and gaskets was 200 bucks from central 4wd in queenstown.

if you were closer id say drop it off as im off over crimbo for 4 weeks!
