On the red is fine Al 

Comp rig: Suzuki Vitara, L67 Supercharged V6 Commie and auto, Prado chassis and diffs. Gigglepin 8274 twin motor rear mounted winch, air free spools, 35" Silverstones, ect

what engine, my 1600 16v runs at around 80 -85
have had it around 100 without any problems but not for long

That sounds about right.
I don't think they mind, I ran mine for most of a two day trip in the red zone (bung electric fan and leaking radiator cap!) and it's fine!!

Dunno what it is but mine has been up to the redzone once in the whole time I've owned it and that was because the radiator was full of swamp

Mine always sat half way up the factory gauge.

I aimed for between 84 (thermostat opening) and max of 95. Usually sat at about 89 unless the rad got dirty.
