Im coiling my 70 series cruiser an Im looking for some longer travel shocks, not sure what lengths I need but Id like to hear what shocks people are using an where you buy them from.
Im on a bit of a budget like most people but in saying that I want good quality gear so Im open to all suggestions.
Next question is about using heim joints on link rods.
Im looking at using them on the diff end of the rear diff with patrol an 80 series bushes at the chassis end (cos Ive already got these).
What size joints have you used? I was thinking 7/8" was a bit small maybe thinking of using 25mm?
Any advice would be welcome, but Id really like 1st hand advice of what youve used an how well theyve worked.
Thanks
Long travel shocks an heim joint question?
Long travel shocks an heim joint question?
Didn't barbie drive a jeep??
Re: Long travel shocks an heim joint question?
Instead of using heim joints go for a rubber bush like the ones out of a surf rear or GQ rear. They dont wear out, they dont clunk around, they are cheap/free and they have enough travel to max out my 18" shocks
It is worth buying good quality shocks as it will save you $$$ in the long run. Look into buying a set of second hand foxes. They do come up from time to time
, or there are a whole bunch of shocks coming out in oz that may be worth a look

By fox shocks do you mean air shocks? Ive heard theyre not road legal?? I want this thing legal so will be coils allround at this stage.
Funny you mention patrol bushes. Ive got a complete set of patrol an 80 series suspension links. could just make longer links with the standard bushes I guess

Nope meant just the fox branded shock. Fully rebuildable so you never need to buy new ones again

Well there you go :p weld some steal inbetween them bushes and you got some arms for next to nothing
