sj410 - 5speed conversion ?

Post by 410 »

wanting to do a 5speed conversion in the sj410

does it bolt straight in ?

also does the 1300 sj413 motor bolt straight in ?

the 1l 4spd atm is useless to drive sits at about 80km/h nemore than that and it sounds like its gonna drop all its parts out on the road haha

No and no . The engine mounts are different on the chassis and teh gearbox mount is different . Also the hole in the floor is in a different place .

There are web pages that show making a 5sp out of your 4sp and a carry 5sp box , never done it and don't know anyone that has :) .

Could put a 413 transfer case in it, off the top of my head it would increase the gearing about 13% in highrange.

An early 413 should bolt straight up (late model 413/samurai have bigger flanges)

From memory in 4th at 100km/h a stock 410 is doing about 5200rpm, so would drop it to about 4600rpm, then you could gain another 5-10% by putting bigger tyres on it, which would be getting down to a better rpm.
