Norwest Winch challenge Feedback wanted

Tony and i are looking for some feedback from the competitors for next years event
What we are looking at is running over Easter to allow us to give you guys more stages"
Starting on Friday afternoon and finishing Mid Afternoon on Sunday
Do you want night stages or an extra day stage or two ?
If we were to run night stages it would have to be split over 2 nights Say Club class on Friday and Challenge and Super modified on the Sat ,we would only be able to do one stage and it could be short if the day stages run on .
also it concerns us that comp trucks will be driven back to camp [15mins approx] late at night on a major road after being beaten to death all day
At this stage we are petty flexable so let us know what you want and we will see what we can do .

Hi Steve,
Try to get as many stages as you can (20+ ish?) So that it becomes a contest of who can go the distance rather than who can carry the most spares. Also if you have a bad stage its not the end of your contest, cause you cant make the points back up.

as far as traveling back to camp, people will have to compete in a manner that lets them still have a vechicle to drive back at the end of the night.

Heres another thought ,how about we do it Ossie style,You can only use the spares you are carrying on the comp truck ,anything else is outside assistance and you get a penalty

I know what you are saying about driving to survive but night stages seem to be a bit of a waste in that because of the numbers and limited time avail they have to be quite short ,even allowing for say a 4-5 minute driving with one winch stage (15min dnf) .you only need a couple of trucks to go the full time and before you know it its past midnight ,not good for the marshalls or competitors when we want to be on the morning stages at 7am

Prizes for the first three vehicles in each class, then have a spot draw or whatever.

If you do well you should reap the rewards, other wise whats the point in making it a timed event with points?

It just basically becomes a club trip with a raffle at the end

Also why set specific night stages? How bout we are doing x number of stages today, at some stage its going to get dark and you will run in the dark till done. If you make sure the stages that you are going to open in the afternoon are evenish there should be no advantage/disadvantage. Just a thought

It was a popular method - ALL competitors contribute equally to the success of the event, and all should have equal chance at sponsors products.

Also - discussed but not done for ours - how about allowing competitors to drop their worst stage, that way a DNF doesn't write you out of the competition. For a long event with plenty of stages - I think it's worth considering...

Could drop best and worst to get an average. Wont be popular but its about give and take...Cant have your cake and eat it. (stupid saying... why have cake without eating it... )

psssst Heath, they want feedback from the competitors that were there not the general forum or there will be 30 pages of opinions from people that wernt there and will never be there and dont know the first thing about whats going on and the valuable feedback from the guys that compete will be lost in the hundreds of pages?

Sorry but it will be Easter as this is the only date that works for us and the landowner ,it also allows us to do a longer (more stages) endurance type of event it will be two and a half days of full on stages early starts and late finishes,3 classes no dedicated night stages.We will be posting a basic plan of what we are planning in the coming weeks ,What i can tell you at this stage is we have 3 top of the line winches one of which is a Hydraulic to start the prize list
