My SWB series one Pajero - my first 4wd and stock as a rock

Post by Kingpin »

so im really new to this 4x4 thing but im hooked!

i have always had a serious car problem and now i have a truck problem forming...lol

anyway i got this little pajero as a trade on an old 1985 ford fairlane project...not a bad trade i think.

i took this first pic around red rocks on the first weekend of ownership:

the very next weekend i wanted/needed to buy something for it so i went to repco and got some car seat covers and some fog spots (the spots on it were cracked) for just $30.

ive always wanted a a better steering wheel for this truck.

actually i have had this leather momo wheel for years but i have had real troubles with getting a boss kit.

the one in the pic was a saas kit from repco that lasted about a week before it started to get really sloppy even when fully tight.

i got a boss kit of trademe today and fitted it tonight and it seems like the same thing might happen. also the horn doesnt work at all with the trademe kit....

if anyone has fitted a boss kit to a swb 89 pajero please let me know

so i went on my first trip with some really cool people last weekend down here in wellington.

i was secretly crapping myself about how my little pajero would do but i have to say i was super proud of how well it did

i got this cooler/heater thing from a garage sale a while ago.
it worked so well on the trip keeping my drinks icy cold.

so as you can see ive just done small things so far.

this is my list of things i wanna do....not in order.

things to do:

- 15" wheels and offroad tires (im also thinking about getting some 20s or bigger for road driving and bling factor)
- custom (read as: home made) snorkel
- suspension lift
- get the bosskit thing sorted
- move the seat back a few inches and or get a better drivers seat
- move the fog lights and wire them up
- get some big ass driving spots
- tow points
- window tints
- rust kill paint on the rust bubbles
- moderate sounds upgrade
- alarm/kill switch
- custom shelves and mounts for camera and video equipment
- custom centre console to house cooler box and other stuff
- maybe custom draws for gear in the boot
- roof racks with possible sleeper
- fix the leak in the power steering

im seriously thinking about selling my daily driver laurel to fund it all.
