80 series shocks into GQ

Post by Mud Hog »

Front shocks are going thought It would be a good time to upgrade as there known to be weak. Been trying to find Muskie's thread about it but can't find it. Is there a certain height spacer I should be putting in the shock tower or go as high as I can?

40mm, but measure the compressed and extended lengths of the shocks to be sure.

OME 'L' series shocks need a 60mm spacer when using 80 series in place of standard GQ and with 50mm lift springs.

But as above you really need to measure shocks.

its worth mentioning that there is a limit to how high you can raise the towers without first performing a body lift or cutting holes in the inner guards above the strut.

Getting the top nut done up becomes a pain in the ass.

True, but a hole saw makes room for a socket pretty easily.
