Post by mikesj413 »

hi,
my mate has a 96 vitara and has got a problem with the fuel tank imploding, like its been sucked in top and bottom, its the second time its happened, he had to replace the tank the first time, probly will have to this time aswell.
Has anyone had this before, anyone know what causes this problem?

could almost put money on it.

check if it has a aftermarket fuel cap on it, and if i does, check if its ment to vented or not.

check the breather pipe, if it has one. But some are vented through the cap. Couldnt tell you which ones its going to be, im not a zuk dude, but someone here will know.

I had this...was the cap as suggested. Breather pipe exits back into fill pipe just under the cap and relies on cap venting but with replacement solid cap in it implodes as cant vent.
