what length shocks are people using in their y60 safs with 2 inch spring lift. going to replace mine. the guy i got it from run standard shocks with the 2 inch lift. shocks are stuffed.

Not all 2" lifts are the same (depends on manufaturer etc). IMO you are better off taking the shocks out, and putting on a hoist to measure the max extended length you need, then get the correct compressed length sorted. I'd assume the compressed length isn't as critical on the smaller lifts (less risk of bumpstops being too short)
