Where to mount rear recovery hooks?

Post by andy3542 »

Got 2 rear recovery hooks. not sure where to put them. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Thinking of putting them at either point 1 or 2. (see below) both sides are identical.

I would go with spot 1, its closer to the chassis rail. Can you mount it to the rail?
Toyota Landcruiser FJ40, front and rear lockers, 35" simex.
Toyota FJ45 build in progress.
Tires are like boobs, they always look big until you have played with them for a while, then you just want a bigger set.

yeah 1 is 'the t junction' between the chassis rail and the final cross member. wasnt sure if drilling there would weaken it?

As long as the hole you drill is going to have a bolt through it and done up tight, I don't think you have to worry about weakening the "t junction"
If you break it... build it stronger.

chassis rail has the suspension mounts so will move the hooks left of point 1 in original picture.

itll leave them closer to the middle and each other then i wouldve liked but looking at it, theyll be stronger there for sure.

thanks for the advice guys.
