1993 3.0l Surf... Cracked head

Hey guys, well a short lived 4x4 adventure, (6 months since i bought it) and its cracked its head ive been told by mechanic... The head has been removed and the truck is now sitting outside my place waiting for a buyer... Any offers will be considered. I though id post here before trademe. I have an offer from a workmate for $1500 but have no idea what its worth.

1kz, 250,000Kms, Auto, Dark green, rancho 9000 adj susp. New water pump, radiator flushed, NO headunit.

Why dont you fix it .... you can get some good deals now for new heads etc .

because firstly... my mechanic has quoted a minimum of $4000 to fix the head... secondly, i asked about putting another engine in and in order for him to provide his 90day warranty, he could only use the engine he could find which is off a hiace... which means i would have to pay more because they would have to change the sump etc... load of BS if you ask me... and thirdly, i just want it gone now. its been such a hassle since ive had it. (my mechanic hasnt helped)

I think you need to find a better mechanic .... im sure someone can reccommnd one in your area

yeh was at a mechanics other day, i asked what its worth for head job on one nowadays,as there was one in the shop.he said 3g, used to be 3g just for the head!

Yea just had a mate ring his mechanic who said 3k for the whole job. bit better than 5k minimum haha
