Landrover s2/3 gearbox NEEDED in Christchurch

Hi there,

Im looking for a landy gearbox to replace mine which wasn't happy about being towed 300k's so has decided to seize up on me (stopped in kaikoura and wondered what the smoke was ).

Either in chch or near to would be awesome (oh and a place to work would be cool too )

Na just took the rear d-shaft out and it was good again

I've got a series 2a box here of the strong variety (cant remember the serial number suffix, just know it was one of the strong ones....)
It's in the tararua tho, not much help to ya
but if someone is heading down that way in the near future, they might be able to deliver it for ya...

this is exactly why I want to put free wheeling hubs on the rear of my truck as well..... were you towing it with the transfercase in neutral, and the main gearbox in 4th ?

sounds like a good oppurtunity to gas axe off the gearbox cross member and weld some brackets on to bolt it back up, such a pain in the ass removing the seatboxes etc........

All you have to do is make sure the T.Case isn't in Low Range eh

"A" Framing in Low box will roast the gearbox every time

Defo wasnt in low range. Front shaft is a little wobbly so I made sure it was in high.

Update for the interested: pulled box out today with mazdamike and stripped it. Unfortunately its a little beyond repair. Checked out the yard full of landies and he was wanting a bit more than I wanted to spend. I think he is just greedy cause he has a whole lot of cool shit in that yard that unfortunately will not see light of day again. So hopefully Ill find one locally cheaper otherwise Ill have to go back and bargain with him
