Certification cost

Post by Weasel »

Got body lift, suspension lift and looking at putting 35's on Saf so assuming will need cert?

1) Does certifier adjust speedo so reads right with new tyres?
2) How much is it to get cert done?
3) Does cert cost include any rego or wof? (expired)

$450 sounds about right. Remember to make sure that you get all the mods done that your planning as you're paying the same price whether its one thing cert'd or several. I'd also imagine that getting the speedo calibrated would be you're problem to sort (if they pick it up).

Good luck ;-)

get in touch with your cert guy from the word go

he will let you know what has to be done etc etc

then you wont run into any hassles at the actual time of cert

Mine was 500 but that was a mobile guy. All he wanted for speedo was a mark to say where 50 was and where 100 was.

1) you'll need to get that sorted before the cert
2) down here in CHC its $380
3) No and down here you need to obtain a failed WOF (Due to no cert Plate) before taking it in.

I rung our local guy the other day, enquiring to get the bush rig legal again, and he said a most definite no as soon as i mentioned body lift! strange how some interpret the law different to others aye. As long as the lift blocks are a sensible height, made of the right material, and longer HT bolts are used i don't know why there would be a problem with it. Yet i used to take it for a WOF and noone ever noticed the lift blocks, the missing swaybar, the missing flares or mudflaps, the steel pipe sticking out the passenger side where the step used to be. lol

I got mine done on my safari, 2 inch body + 2 inch suspension and 35"s, was $380 but also had to get rubber extensions on the guards to pass cert also needed wider rims before going in for cert. Had to pay $30 to fail a WOF first then when the plate arrives you get a brand new WOF :)

Very important!!! I have seen many crashes where the insurance refuse to pay out because of people failing to disclaim they have mods - even though it wasnt the mods fault that the crash happened. But thats only if they have the vehicle checked over, usually for us young drivers!
