i've got a similar setup and had to diagnose a similar fault in 100km/hr wind on the desert road...
took me awhile coz i couldnt "not hear" the fuel pump :D :D

check the wires at the fuel pump to see if there is 12v coming through with a multimeter or test light..
if not find out where the wire comes from..
mine comes from the ignition rail off the coil...

ive you've got voltage at the fuel pump it could be poked, i'd fiddle with connections for a bit tho it might just be a dirty connection...

electric fuel pumps are definately a hell of a lot more reliable than mechanical ones so dont go back down that road if ur electric one is poked :)
bout $60 for a new electric one

Yeah it was 9 pm last night at the transport yard I had no tools so couldn't check anything, I have got them to bring it to the house today so I can put it in the garage and test the electrics out, I have three spare electric pumps in the shed from my Range rover. so once I leave work I will endeavor to get it going today.

If you swap it, make sure spare pump is the right type (Carby or EFI).

EFI pump will flood carbs and Carby one is not high enough pressure for EFI although they look very similar and have same bracket etc.

EFI pump is same dia as carby one but slightly longer to accomodate 2 stage pump innards.
