Pajero 3500 V6 - Fuel Consumption

Post by Snaffa »

Bit of a 4x4 noob and not had my '95 SWB pajero for long but at the my last calculation im only getting around 5km's per litre.

Now i realise its a gas guzzling v6 but 5kms/ltr.... Worse than i thought!

I thought id get around 8-9 around town with 10-11 on the open roads.

Does anyone have a similar vehicle and what sort of mileage do you get? Is there anything i can do?

About the truck:

95 SWB Pajero 3500 V6
150k
AT tyres
and just came back from a $500 service.

Thansk in advance.

Try http://www.fuelly.com

Look for either Mitsi Pajero or you can try Shogun.

These are the numbers for my V6 3 litre L200

Hi there Snaffa. Had my Paj for about 2 months now. SWB 1994 3.5 V6 Auto.
Did 6.4km/litre on first tank.
Then replaced exhaust with 2 ¼, coby, muffler, coby. And transmission flush
Doing between 6.5/litre and 10.75/litre with commuting and moderate to heav4x4ing.
Got 30 x 9.5 x 15 tires for road and then 265x 75 x 16 knobleys for dirt work.
Hasn’t had a service yet.

Cheers MIKE

Different engine but my 3.5 v6 rodeo work truck does between 14L and 20L per 100ks depending on how it is driven. You have to be areal nana on the open road to get it down to 14L/100 17-18 would be more average, but I can do a full tank 60ish in about 250ks if I have a bad day.
Toy - Zuk chassis tub, hilux 4.88 axles and transfer, Nissan CA18DE motor and auto trans, sc12 supercharger, 32 10'5 simex, twin motor 8274 custom freespool. Well the parts are all there in various corners of the shed

Yeah, same for me - 18 l/100km (5.5 km/l) in my 3.5 SWB pajero. Although I've got big tyres on it. I do drive it pretty conservatively on the road though. Can't afford to have a heavy jandal.

How do you like the new exhaust? Sound good? Too noisey?

Bit loud really but that’s what you get I spose. Dan at the exhaust shop said V6is are very hard to free flow with out getting that V6 howl. Which is why is got 2 cobys. Nice rumble sound at idle. Gives it a bit more at 2 to 3000 rpm and it really sings at hirer rpm. But I’m to busy hanging on to tell you how it performs at full noise. Exhaust and trans flush cost $820. Still a pig in the mud but that’s what you get for buying an auto I spose.

Cheers MIKE.

Had my 1995 SWB 3.5 Pajero for about 6months it has 200k on the clock, usually get somewhere between 420-460km from a full tank - 6.4km's per litre-ish?? or 15L/100km - Thirrrrssty, still think it beats paying road user charges though! been there done that before..

I had a 1997 3.5L LWB Pajero a few years back, I got around 325-350 K's to a tank, petrol was a bit cheaper then at about $130 for a full tank. It had only done 80k's when I bought it

Cheers

I have a 3.2V6 Bighorn Manual SWB and I just did a run to Auckland from Whangarei on sunday

I put $80 of 95 ($1.98 per L) and I did 360kms with the heavy foot when passing etc so thats roughly 9km/L or 11L/100kms
wich I thought was pretty good considering. Average cruising speed 105kp/h.
Around town I dont know as I dont use it much thats what my Wife's car is for.
