disc brake conversion Q???

Post by J_Dub »

so ive ripped my axles out, drums stripped, to repace the diff with the locker etc and give everything a clean up..

Freakin hate drum brakes what a mess to pull apart let alone put back together, so im thinking disc brake conversion..

Ive noticed the 1 main problem guys have with doing this conversion is poor handbrake movement or issues with lever clearance with leaf springs etc. But since ive purchased a transfer case handbrake.. wouldnt this mod be a shite load easier... brackets, rotors, calipers, plumb it up and done????????? no need to dick around with handbrake operation???

Yep.

I used soild front hilux discs, which meant turning the axle flange downa bit. 10mm plate for the brackets and 90-91 3l maxima calipers. works mint, but you need to hook the handbrake up as the adjuster in the brake works off the handbrake. but in saying that the placement is fine and you can use the factory hilux cable.
Toy - Zuk chassis tub, hilux 4.88 axles and transfer, Nissan CA18DE motor and auto trans, sc12 supercharger, 32 10'5 simex, twin motor 8274 custom freespool. Well the parts are all there in various corners of the shed

i used hilux solid rotors with mazda capella calipers, work a treat, trick is to get the most common and cheapest calipers and pads price in my opinion, unlike the idiot who used old subaru leone caliper who came in to work

There a lot of 'idiots' running the subaru caliper, they work and they are common enough, isn't that what is needed?

sorry not idiots, um id say not ideal..
i actual wrote that last post post wrong,

Keep the details of the car when getting them, save lots of time when looking for new parts etc, like any mods thats not standard.
