terrano lsd sizes?

Post by will i am »

ive got a d21 1991 terrano deisel.
dont no the diff sizes.
both open diffs as lose traction at 1 wheel and then no power to the others.
have found a rear lsd and front open
ratio being 4.3:1
im guessing they are out off a v6 terrano
will i have any problems in changing diff sizes?

thanks
another d21 terrano

4.3 is petrol. The crown gear can be swapped. In short, just exchange the inner diff head with your old one. Will need to adjust the back-lash to suit. My backlash was 0.18mm.
There are only two other ratios; 4.625 and 4.875 for the diesels
You can work it out by counting the teeth on the crown gear and the pinon. Off the top of my head the pinion has 8 teeth, and the crown gear will have ether 37 or 39 teeth. the 4.375 has 35 teeth. On the ID plate under the bonnet right hand side has the drive code, E.G, HG 46 or HG 48 or CA 48. Self explanatry which one is which
Hope this helps.
Cheers.
I keep looking for the loose nut behind the wheel, but I can't find it!!

V6 and 4cyl Terrano's ran differrent rear diffs v6 used the H233B diff and 4cyl used C200 diff (d21 Navara's also ran the C200)- there is quite a big difference in size and design between these diffs so parts not necessairly interchangeable between the two.
