Hi all, Merry Christmas,
I am in the process of correcting my diffhead angle on the front of my Hilux.
It has lifted rears up front and the axle has been pushed forward.
I need to fix it for two reasons.
1: The Steering isn't vertical.
2: The Diffhead is almost pointing down. Not up towards my transfer case.
How much is too much?
I've jacked the diffhead up too where it needs to be to fix both problems.
But the wedge I'd need to install will need to be approximately 15mm at the the thickest end (the front).
I don't know the angle.
From your past experiences, is this too much??
I can't see it being an issue as I can either weld it to the spring perch if need be.
It will also be drilled etc to suit the spring pack bolt and I don't think it'll be moving once the U-Bolts are back on and tight.
Have I missed anything?
Cheers Daniel

hi m8, doing wot you are suggesting will effect the castor.install a high pinion diff in front will help.go and see rick at 4wd accessories he's done plenty off those setups.

Cheers for the reply.
My Castor angle is currently a bit too positive cos the axle is mounted on the up radius of the leaf spring.
I understand what you mean though and this has given me a guide to work towards.
I will shim it to maintain a bit of postive castor angle and anthing is better than nothing towards my pinion angle.
I cannot afford new high pinion diffs.
Cheers Daniel

I havent had anything to do with hiluxs before but i do work with alot of leaf sprung landcruisers and and most of them have 10-15mm castor wedges in them. You mite need to put a longer locating pin through the springs to locate the wedge and also get longer u-bolts. Drive it with the wedges in and see how it handles but if it needs bigger than 15mm wedges id be looking at sorting the problem another way.

Tires are like boobs, they always look big until you have played with them for a while, then you just want a bigger set.

Thanks, yeah I have ubolts that are currently too long anyway as I have done a ubolt flip and havent trimmed them yet. I won't be going as big as 15mm now. Maybe 10mm. So I'll go and see how it works out.
Cheers for the advice
