Tamaki River, Dannevirke

Has anyone been up Tamaki River recently, any access issues, locked gates etc? We were hoping to take the kids up to the Hut. Whats the track like, driveable for a single truck? Have front and rear winch and ground anchor.

Tamaki has been closed by the guys at DOC but the Kumati stream can still be driven and provides a challenge at the top end

Thanks want to take the kids (3 & 5yrs) up for an overnighter in the bush, hoping for a hut, but DOC removes all the handy ones.

thats because idiots rock up with there mates get pissed up make a mess and leave. smae thing happed to lawrence hut to much work to maintain so they pulled it down
