lock rite diff locker not locking

I have just fitted a lock rite locker in my suzuki and it is not working correctly. i think its the shims does anyone know what thickness your ment to shim them to???

Generally LockRight don't specify clearances as the theory is they are good to go with factory components and tolerances.
In practice older diff carriers wear, especially if used with a wheel spinning!

6 thou clearance seems to be optimum. (0.006")

I put it together using all the factory clearances and it wouldn't even work in a straight line so i pulled it back out shimed it up more and it wouldn't unlock. so out again got two standard shims machined down a wee bit and put them in with standard shims and it will drive in a straight line but it will still disengauge in a straight line and will unlock even if accelrating hard. Does it need to be shimed up a little bit more??

check the cross pin clearance with the carrier , suzuki have a problem with
wear
and this could be your problem, have same issue myself
retired 4wd to a ford ranger and UTV
