gen2 front suspension bushes

hello to all.

new to the fourm. i have a 1993 2.8 pajero lwb.

after many a trips 4x4ing the front bushes are begining to give up the ghost.

i am after some replacements. has anyone done these?

tried ripco as a mate works there. got some nothane ones in and were not right and didnt seem to stock the right ones.

any help would be great.

the upper and lower arms in the front. the ones that mount the arms to the chassis.

I have only got lower arms left, as i had to use the top arms for my truck , if thats any help ... where in the country are you ??

yeah could be keen on the lowers if ya wanted to sell. though wanted to do the lot in one go after already taking to bits once.

what sort of coin for them?

Say $40 , for both sides, and i would just send down the arms as that would be easyer and just freight on top ... but maybe to save some money , have a quick check around down there for some , either in a wreakers or even BNT , or repco .

awsome deff keen on the lower arm bushes. is that for the lower arms front and rear bushes on each side? are the bushes new?

that kit looks to be for the rear , not the front .... they are not new , and the dash says they have done ..107 000kms . but they look OK .

Are you sure the lower (front) bushes are shot ? It is the upper bushes that normally tend to wear and fail. I would do the upper first.

I have used these on my truck. You need to drill out or burn out the factory bushes from the control arm, and then remove the sleeve from the bush that is left in the control arm (check inner dimensions against replacement bushes before removing, but I had to for the new bushes to fit. Also I would replace the outer lock nuts or lock-tite them well.

Howdy.
I know this thread is pretty old, but I just wanted to ask what difficulties I might find replacing the upper control arm bushes in my 97 Pajero, which uses the Nolathane 45480 kit. It looks to me like I need to:
disconnect shock,
release upper ball joint,
disconnect break line,
remove upper arm to frame bolts,
lift out upper arm,
burn out bushes (press out?),
press in new bushes,
reassemble with alignment shims in original positions,
bleed brakes.
Is that about right? Is there anything that is likely to catch me out?

That about sums it up. Except the new bushes won't need pressing in. They just tap in with a mallet. And the ABS cable bracket comes off too.
I just took the arm off, took it to a suspension shop that sells the bushes (Nolathane in this case), and they burned the old bushes out and fitted the new kit for me.

Then replace them every 6 months.... How are yours going Paul? Mine wore out real quick so I put a second hand upper arm in and back to rubber.

Nolathane are crap.

Just buy new complete upper arms with new balljoint... not too expensive, $95+ each... ive just got a new pair and installing them tomorrow

Agreed. I was desperate and assumed that it was impossible to get rubber ones. Still going okay at the moment.
What I really want is some rubber bushes for the rear trailing arms!

There is a chap on here that rang me one day, can't remember his name, but he found upper front arm bushes from SAS parts. They were new rubber bushes, no idea on the quality, he just got them and was going to try them. He was going through front nolathane ones every 6 months as well.

Mitsi only sell the complete arm. $95 would be a good price i'd have thought given it comes with a ball joint.

I tracked down some rear rubber bushes from http://www.oemmitsubishiparts.com in the good ol US of A. I have been in contact with them and they are willing to ship me some. Do you want me to chase it up and get you 4 as well? They were $US24 ea for rear and about $10 for the front donuts on the trailing arms. + shipping.

Yes, keen if the shipping isn't extortionate!
My rear arms limit the flex before the shocks do (with or without the sway bar).

(sas) suspension and autoparts specialists have top a arm inner bushes (in my case I have a v45) look to be resonable quality they have 6 branches in the north island and one in Christchurch fitted them last week. You need to use a press to fit them they also stock many other parts.

autolign do the upper arms... as do repco, but repco only seem to have the right hand one listed, nothing available for the left hand side.
