FJ45 Rebuild/Work Truck

Post by ClassicCruiserSpares »

Ive decided to build up a FJ45 into a daily work truck so here goes!!
I started by buying this FJ45 off tardme recently:

Image

Image

Ive stripped all the broken timber out cut off all the unwanted bits off the deck and fully sanded the frame down ready for paint.

Image

Image

Started to paint deck and chassis tonight but what a boring job that is so carry on with it tomorro.

Image

Diff and springs will be coming out so theyll get painted while there out, the new timber for the deck is cut so i need to start staining that once the painting of the chassis/Deck is finished.

The diffs arent factory and the motor and gearbox arent factory either.
The motor is out of a dyna truck and the 5 speed is from a 60 series, the cab will stay stock though.

The floors were good but the bottom bits below the doors were buggered and rusted out and also the fire wall had some rust. The doors have rust in the bottoms so will need to repair them also but the rest should be easyier to clean up.

Timber for the deck was sanded then stained top and bottom.
Had some spare time today so got some work done on the deck.
Most of the deck is bolted down but still needs the centre bolts put in but cant reach then by myself

Just in the process of making new removable drop sides, the originals were all bent and to high which made it look like a dump truck :D

that grey gloss is superb guy.. really great choice on that one..

i'm liking the look of your big deck.. nothing like having a big deck.. people can gather and oogle ya perfect deck.. nothing like having a deck to spend the evenings strokin on a good polish.. some peoples decks are too big, some small and useless for much but this one is big brown and practical.. ya can get the girls across the road to sit on your deck and ya can take em for a ride even..

seriously though, lookin feckin tidy guy.. gonna be a truly awesome working advertisement.. Image

Finally got some time today to do some work on the 45, these parts turned up in the mail last week thanks to Matt (MNC).

Image

Image

Both panels are fibreglass so no more rust issues, I got them both stripped down and pulled apart, the roof is all sanded down and under repair it had some cracking in the gel coat so sanded them out and re gel coated it them.

The rear panel is mostly pretty good a few minor repairs to be done then tomorrow they will both get primer.
Will have more pics soon.

Dude, I'm glad it showed up in one piece. :D

The guys at Mainfreight weren't keen to take it due to glass and made me sign a ship at owners risk thing

Cant wait to see it tidied up and on your truck. 8)
