Yeah this truck was meant to be a bit rougher than my patrol but it looks like it might turn out the opposite
To this point its still cost maybe 1/8th what my nissan cost.

Probably go Canary Yellow I think. Havn't had a yellow vehicle before .

I had it done at colorstrip in Cambridge. Real good dudes and was like $600. I would have used more than $600 of my own time sanding it so went that way instead.

They used recycled garnett and it didn't damage any of the panels which is good. I still have to do the inside of the roof as they didn't want to do that incase it warped it.

Sooo the project has pretty much stagnated at the mo. Deciding on transfer gearing, whether to go rocklobster or blow my bonus on 4.9 gears.

Anyways, TC cradle turns up. All good, should do a good job.

Some instructions were also included. So I'm having a read and what the F%#@ is on every page. Made me Cringe. Then I paid attention to what was written too

Do you think the cradle is going to work with the stock transfer mounted hand break? And is ground clearance affected?

Ground clearance takes a <40mm hit as the skid plate hangs down a wee bit but that should be ok still. Still better than the patrol

This cradle does suit the handbrake drum but will be looking to change to disc rears with the handbrake on the discs if possible.

Well made some progress. Some panel work done and underneath has all been undersealed.
Found some pics of how I transported it between towns on a shitty day after it was sandblasted







Made sense at the time but at road speed the plastic tends to unravel quite readily

So I haven't posted much in a while. Seeing all these other projects moving along made me go out and do some stuff on the weekend.

Engine in with power steering half fitted. New Clutch fitted.

All the wiring is back in now. Just cleaning the starter and looking at a different alternator, finish fitting the powersteering and all the big stuff should be done.

I'm trying to sort out what pulleys I need for the power-steering. water-pump is different between the car and the truck.

Yeah old man was moaning about that too. Bin the wire rope and go to COOKES and get a nice light weight dynamica rope.

The wire will probably find its way onto the safari. The synthetic stuff is so much nicer to work with.

Been a while since anythings really been done on the truck. Too many other projects.

Decided to do a bit the last couple nights.
- New water pump done
- New Timing Belt
- Power Steering fitted properly not just mocked up like above.
- Repaired stupid belt tensioner due to sheared bolt mishap.
- Machined bottom pulley to make belts line up. If anyone does try this find a 4 stud swift multi-v pulley. Redrilling and keying the 5 stud one (like I initially tried) is an effing mongrel.
- Mounted 100amp alternator properly with modified top bracket.

Dude , from someone whose zuk gathered shed rash for far to long, a word of advice.

winches , bar work , alternator upgrades , power steering , cages , general zuk bling are all luxerys on a Suzuki and are not required to get out and wheel the truck.

IMHO get the body finished , back on the chassis and painted . the big shit eating grin you will have after deriving her into town and back with give you all the motovTion required to blast out the small jobs later on.

and as I've found once you drive it , your plans for it will change.

If your waiting on panel/paint work rather than trying to do it yourself you will find time is plenty to add stuff like that. If everything was to schedule it would be driveable on nt diffs now. This is why this sort of thing is being done as I'm expecting I will end up doing it later.

I also like only having to do jobs once, not drive a rolling project even though it is usually inevitable.
