MSR Deadwood Safari - 8th Jan 2011

Post by vitara888 »

The MSR Deadwood Safari is on Saturday 8th January at 615 Whitemans Valley Road, Upper Hutt, Wellington. It is the second round of the national 4WD Trials series and will have the best 4WD drivers competing over 30 different “hazards”. It is being run by Valley 4WD club and they’ve pegged out the hazards and they're average to fearsome, mostly fearsome. It'll be a spectacular sight to see the best drivers and vehicles in NZ attempting them.

Spectators are welcome; entry will be $10 per adult or $25 for a family with free parking. We expect to give away a brand new Mitsubushi heat pump in a lucky draw (tbc) open to everyone coming to the event.

We are looking for some volunteers to assist as marshals, no experience necessary. If you haven’t been a marshal before don't worry - it's quite straightforward and a full briefing with all rules will be given prior to the start of the event on the day. It's likely you'll be paired with an experienced marshal anyway. Entry is free for marshals and lunch will be provided for so you don't have to queue at lunchtime. Pm me or email vitara888@yahoo.com if you are interested in marshalling.

free entry for marshalls, if enough show we can use u for am and the others for pm, we can even feed ya lunch if you help out, no experience required, you get trained on the rules for your particular hazard, if a competitor argues the clerk of course will give them 200 points, and the competitors don't like that so dont argue, get to see how many differnet ideas of vehicle performance actually work, there are no 12" lifts for "awesome performance and stability "

Give me or Jerry a PM, either for more info or to let us know ya coming please

Cheers

kinda, a class being 4 cyl, STD, b class being 5 cyl plus, Std, if you intending to run your crusier then you would be D class, V8, lockers suspension etc.

That has to be almost the end of JJ's truck surely , look at the bend in the body line . It must have a bent chassis or its a deceptive pic . Maybe he has just ripped the front guard off the inner bodywork .

Thanks to all the ORE people who came along to help out today. We had a good number of marshals and recovery teams and the event seemed to run well.

On behalf of the the Valley 4wd club, thank you very much to those who attended and helped marshalling, recovery etc, it is a huge task to run one of these events and with out the volunteers like yourselves it would simply be impossible. the drivers had a ball and enjoyed the day, Thanks again and hope to see you at the next deadwood, when ever that may be.

Cheers

this is about a second before our second roll of the day.
first one was a simple sideways wheels to wheels.
this one was over backwards with a rather hard landing.......

we are still waiting for the video of our third roll to surface. it should be highly entertaining when it finally turns up
