Why don't you fix what you have ???

You said that you got a spare head.. pull the engine apart and have a look. You can't sell it for bugga all like it is !

Why throw money at another engine which may also need work.

The point is we shouldn't have to fix it - it was supposed to be all in good running condition.

Besides, until the engine turns over and runs I don't see the point in pulling the head off and spending money on a new headset... might find the bottom end stuffed too... or worse.

Oh, and $2k for a 1kz is a good price... how did you get on with that one?

Agreed.. ripped off.. send it back :( but if you can't might as well fix it

Slap it in the hole, make it go and see whats left to do !

Dont feel it was a rip off - the seller was genuine with the knowledge he had of the parts at the time

Things came to light after the sale - we have worked things out and he has made a generous & suitable refund for the dodgy engine & box. All credit to him for that as it was an "as is" deal....

So we have a good bellhousing and now just deciding whether to pursue another Supra or try for the 1Kz option

The 3ltr diesel is a great engine :D

It is electronic control on the injector pump so you will need the ECU and loom to.

It would be more expensive but would add more value to your truck.

yes although it is electronic, the injector pump and the ECU and loom etc are not required as a fuel pump of a 13B or 14B (can't remember which) and the boost compensator off of a 2LT can be used. this gives around factory performance but fuel consumption is a little worse. although i havent done this i was going to do this for my 1KZ conversion but since 1KZ auto aswell i am running all the factory electrics.
